Reason 173 we love our town...

... because it attracts the nicest people, of course!

I can’t count the number of times Paul and I have said, “we have the nicest guests!”, and that’s because we do.  We can’t thank you enough for making 173 High Street such a delightful business for us and we’re thrilled, yes, THRILLED, that at the beginning of March, we have bookings already firmed up throughout the summer.

So, if you’re thinking of returning to Southampton for a getaway, please book soon as we already have a few weekends completely filled.

Why not come up for a longer weekend or through the week?  We have The Annex, our latest offering for High Street seasonal accommodation, and it’s available on a weekly basis, Friday to Friday, from May through October.

Many of you know that Paul’s much better half, Delores Sullivan, owns Sisters on Huron, Southampton’s destination shop for upscale women’s fashion. What you may not know is that Delores owns the building that houses her shop and upstairs is her fabulous flat. Haven’t you always dreamt of a cottage by the Lake?

Hop over to our website and click on The Annex for pictures, but here’s the short version:  • 1,800 square feet

• two bedrooms;

`• additional pull-out couch

• fully equipped, large, eat-in, farm style kitchen;

• living room;

• outdoor deck and large patio, bbq and parking on site;

• air conditioning;

• tv (streaming Netflix).

The flat is utterly luxurious and comfortable with the same amazing beds and linens that we have at the Inn.  You are literally just steps to the beach, fine dining, ice cream, bike and walking trails.

Why come for a week?  So many reasons, and here are a few:

bicycling, please ask, we usually have a couple to borrow;

paddling down the Mighty Saugeen;

Coffin Ridge Winery between Owen Sound and Meaford;

day trips up to Tobermory to see the famed Flower Pot Island and Fathom Five National Marine Park;

Did you know that Bruce Penninsula National Park is part of the UNESCO world biosphere reserve?  Yup, right up there with Patagonia, The Serengeti-Ngorogoro, The Great Gobi Desert, and Mount Olympus, to name a few.

There’s  also the absolutely gorgeous re-built amphi-theatre at the Saugeen First Nation, just outside of town.  This is a wonder of dry stone craftsmanship and we can’t wait to see what events will be hosted there.  It really shouldn’t be missed.

The point being, our little neck of the woods is a very special place to relax and enjoy and explore.

Come on up - we think you’ll be glad you did, and don’t forget to ask about our Spring

Specials ;)
